It’s worth going to any large-scale event in Paris merely to see the policing. In England, the police see the touts outside concerts and football stadiums and do nothing. In France, if somebody is even suspected of touting they are strip-searched in the street meaning some great free entertainment even before you’ve entered the stadium.
But going to see Coldplay in the Parc des Princes will be a truly memorable night. Coldplay had been quiet musically for a while – Chris Martin had been busy making stories for his relationship with Gwyneth Paltrow rather than for his music. But with their latest world tour, promoting their new album Viva la Vida, Coldplay are back and so is their wonderful stadium concert experience.
What’s more. in the Parc des Princes, the atmosphere will be ratcheted up further. Firstly, this stadium holds the noise in much better than any English stadium – the French stadium architecture provides better acoustics. If anybody doesn’t believe this just search on Youtube for “Jon Drummond Paris World Championships”.
And the French people love their rock concerts even more than the English. They get into it and create a rocking atmosphere. It gees the bands up and they put on a great show. All in all, it’s simply marvelous.
It would make a lovely weekend away. The 7th of September Coldplay will take Paris by storm. And to not be there, will mean missing out.
