La Semaine du Goût

Taste This Charlottesville 2008 022

Paris is well known for its reputation for culinary finesse and at school we used to learn in our French lessons that “The English eat to live, whereas the French live to eat.” The more you visit France, the more you will see that this is actually truth. The French obsession with food is a kind of progressive revelation.

At the Tasting Week or La Semaine du Goût, you will understand a little bit of the French culinary tradition and certainly will have a fabulous gastronomic experience.

Over the course of one week in October, top chefs, farmers and restaurateurs come together to bring good taste to the French public. You will be able to participate in cooking workshops, food tastings, demonstrations and gourmet exhibitions.

At that time, around 400 restaurants in Paris offer reduced price menus for students and special children’s menus are served. Locals cook meals and place a table outside in the street, for everyone to try the joys of home cooking and local dishes.

La Semaine du Goût is being held this year from the 10-18th October 2009.
