The renowned French Photographer Henri Cartier-Bresson is often credited as being the father of modern photography. Through his work he developed the ‘street’ or ‘real life’ style to photography which has influenced many generations of photographers as well as how we take pictures today.
The “L’Imaginaire d’après nature” exhibition at the Museum of Modern Art in Paris showcases the very best of Cartier-Bresson’s work and we would highly recommend taking time to stop by as Cartier-Bresson’s work is impressive even if you dont have a keen interest in photography.
Although he hated to be photographed himself, throughout his life he captured some of the most historic life changing European events during his lifetime, including the Spanish Civil War, the liberation of Paris in 1945 as well as the assassination of Gandhi.
Despite his presence and photographic world during these times Cartier-Bressons best-known work such as ‘Behind the Gare St. Lazare’ are of his pictures capturing moments of every day life.
The exhibition is only around till the 13th September at the Museum of Modern Art, so a visit to Paris before it finishes is a must.
