The summer exhibition at Lille’s Palais des Beaux-Arts focuses on the Orientalist movement. Explore artworks from Morocco to Turkey, Egypt to Iran, and travel in time between the 19th and 21st centuries.
With ‘steering mirrors, the Palais des Beaux-Arts de Lille offers visitors an image of Morocco to Iran from 1830 to today. In a historic and contemporary, the exhibition offers a look at the construction of the orientalist image, through a simultaneous collection of drawings, autochrome, photographs and video.
The exhibition follows a set of two-way mirrors focusing on the oriental culture revealing our sometimes unexpected expectations of each other. The exhibition is designed for visitors to appreciate the aesthetic connections from one century to another and from one art to another, through more than 200 works.
The exhibition is only being displayed until the 31st August 2009 so you’ll have to be quick if you want to take a look.
