Art and design shops in Paris

Design shops

I’ll start this post with some history about my little nice trip to Paris. I stayed  in the capital of France from 24th till 31st of August this summer. The weather was different – few rainy days, few really hot and all with cool nights.

I travelled with my girlfriend so the vacation was twice pleasant. She prepared a great cultural program and several pedestrian routes to visit the most significant places of interest.

I, myself, as a designer, decided to make custom route and to search for some interesting authentic art/design shops. And, yes, it’s all because i’m in love with books about graphic design, vinyl art toys, design t-shirts and other similar stuff. I’ve opened Google and started to search.

After 3 hours of this laborious task i found 5 places that interested me mostly. All of them you can check on my public Google map (+ you can discover there places that we’ve revealed later, during our walking in the city).

So here i describe all these sights:

Colette -  First of all it is a place for all who is crazy about modern fashion and lifestyle. There are gallery for art objects and paintings, fashion room, shopping hall with books, clothes and even electronics. The shop window often changes its design and you can even watch a fashion show in this great shop. But it’s little bit expensive.

Artoyz -  It’s one of my favorite urban vinyl and designer toys shops in France and a paradise for kidults. They sell best alternative toys from every part of the world. It is situated not far from Louvre and that makes it easy to visit.

The Lazy dog -  This shop is rather far from the historical center of the city, but still needs to be visited. They’ve got great gallery where they carry out catchy art exhibitions. Besides you can always find best design books, prints and clothes there.

Lomography gallery shop -  If you are familiar with lomography photos, then this place is for you. All kind of accessories and materials to make cool lomo’collections and albums.

Bubblewood -  Is a concept store with two floors and lots of eccentric design clothes including tees and hoodies

Virgin Megastore – Extra famous shop by Richard Branson’s “Virgin” company. It’s a huge store with amounts of music, dvd discs, lifestyle accessories, toys, stuff for painters and designers, moleskine notebooks and office supplies. Neat!

And at last i can recommend two design gift shops – one under the Louvre and one in Georges Pompidou national center of art and culture. There are various gifts that you can grab as a keepsake. I’ve bought there this thing for example.

I think that’s all what I’ve wanted to say for today. Hope this post will help you to get some interesting pieces of modern art and culture, while your trip to Paris! Have a good creative time!

I’ve never visited Paris “blind”, I’ve always been accompanied by someone native to France and had them show me around to the places they enjoy.

I’ve always wanted to find my own way and just get lost in the city :)

Sounds like you had a good trip.
