Get into the festive spirit as the city takes on a festive atmosphere and transforms into a winter wonderland with Lille’s month-long Christmas Market. The Place Rihour is taken over by stalls selling arts and crafts. There’s entertainment for children, plus a Ferris wheel and traditional Christmas delicacies to try, or take away.
The Christmas market is made up of more than 80 stalls with gift ideas, nativity figurines, Christmas decorations and festive food. Discover regional specialties, as well as arts and crafts from Russia, Poland, and Québec, as well as products from Native America.
Visitors with children can have photos taken with Father Christmas, who attends the market and participates in a spectacular event on the Saturday before Christmas – when he “falls” from the Chamber of Commerce’s 80-metre-high Belfry.
The Christmas Market in Lille is one of the best in Europe and shouldn’t be missed. Open every day from the 18 November till the 30 December 2009 in the Place Rihour.
