Paris Gay and Lesbian Film Festival

The Paris Gay and Lesbian Film Festival may seem from the title like it is locked into a very tight genre. But this is simply not the case. The films on show here would do any film festival proud with action, horror, comedy, and drama films all in the mix.

Indeed, this film festival ranks amongst the best in the world and with its late date in the year, the best films from other festivals are often shown in Paris. With feature films, shorts, documentaries, debates and more on offer, ordinarily it would be an event not to be missed.

However, what makes it even more special this year is that in its fifteenth year, the Film Festival is returning to the Forum Des Images from the 16th to the 22nd of November 2009. For 2006, 2007 and 2008, the festival had to find an alternative home whilst the Forum Des Images was being refurbished and renovated. Whilst it didn’t end up in dingy surroundings, there are very few cinemas in the world like the Forum des Images.

That is because it has a lustre, elegance, and charm, which is almost impossible to imbue in a building however much you pay. It has, as the French would say, a certain Je ne sais quoi. And it is this which caps the Paris Gay and Lesbian Film Festival and makes it into a teriffic event. Brilliant, inspirational films – which cannot be seen anywhere else, in a brilliant, inspirational setting. What more could you want?
