While English cooking has come on leaps and bounds in the last thirty years, the same cannot be said of our wine-making: put simply, we just don’t have the climate to grow good enough grapes to make good wine.
Luckily, the French do, and how. To experience this, one need only visit the Great Wines Fair in Paris. The French call it Le Grand Tasting and it truly is with over 100 different vineyards represented.
However, whilst this is the case, the quality stays consistent throughout the fair: Thierry Desseauve and Michel Bettane, the organisers, have subtitled their event ‘Le festival des meilleurs vins’ and it truly does have the very best wines.
Both experienced chateaux and newcomers are represented. So if you’re looking for either an outstanding Bordeaux, or some good value wines, all bases are covered.
What’s more, the twenty euro entry fee becomes nothing when one considers that the ticket includes 10% off all wines at the festival as well as much free tasting.
All things considered, this event will be brilliant on the day; however, choose wisely and it could bring happiness to you for many years to come. This surely, makes a visit to the Great Wines Fair (taking place on the 4th and 5th of December in Paris) unmissable.
