This Wednesday marks the 221st anniversary of The Storming of Bastille in 1789 by a group of French craftsmen and salesmen and the reconciliation that followed a year later at the Fête de la Fédération. The 14th of July, is celebrated annually worldwide and is more commonly known as Bastille Day, or formerly as La Fête Nationale by the French.
To celebrate Bastille Day this Wednesday, Favela Chic are hosting one of their monthly Vive La France events on Great Eastern Street, Shoreditch, London. These renowned events aim to challenge John Lennon’s famous quote, “French rock tastes like English wine” by providing the best in French music. With this Wednesday being such an important date in the French calendar, Favela Chic are keen to make sure that this month’s Vive La France goes down a storm, so the well-known French electronic group, Curry & Coco, will be punching out tunes with their usual foray of adrenaline.
If you’d like to celebrate Bastille Day at this truly exciting event, you can win a table for you and 3 friends with free drinks and tapas by answering the following question in the comments below…

I would love to visit Paris to visit the Louvre, Eiffel Tower and go on a boat ride on the River Seine. I want to eat real french food and drink french wine. I want to shop til I drop and go to a jazz cafe – I want to take in all the sites and smells.
I would love to go to Paris as I have never been!
I would love to visit Paris…I have a lot of unfinished business there …:) Not least visiting L’Orangerie, which was closed when I was last there!
I would love to go to Lyon, not the traditional destination but for the amphitheatre, culture, rivers running through it, food and apparently the nightlife.
Well, I am from Sweden.. and heading off from London to Paris must be something to talk about. I like the idea to awake in London with a good english breakfast in the morning and later on the day sitting in one of those Paris cafe and sipping on a cafe au lait…
Brussels is a cultural melting pot where cultures merge in a surprising unique european identity.. most people speak English whilst still having two other official languages ..it’s a city of contrasts…the great European Institutions contrasting Comic Strip Walk where downtown facades are covered in comic strip murals..there is something quite playful and at the same time serious about Brussels like the blonde quiffed comic hero Tintin and the rude little statue of the Mannekin Pis. It’s a fun and interesting city and that’s why I would like to visit it.
It has to be gay Paris! A light lunch at the Rodin Musee cafe, a little bit of culture, up the steps of the Sacre Couer for a great view of this amazing city, and then a bit of high-kicking at the Moulin Rouge, before a snooze on the Eurostar home. Bliss.
It has to be place where the Parisians walk and talk of many things. Where the streets whisper to poets, artist and muscians. Where the summer sun sets to allow the night to begin. Modern and comtempary in all things, yet history echo’s through its architecture. The place I’m yet to fully explore, the place known as ‘La Ville-Lumière’. It has to be Paris. This is my destination of choice.
Thanks very much to everyone that entered. This competition is now closed and we’re pleased to announce that Cally had the winning entry. Keep an eye out on our Facebook & Twitter profiles for future competitions!
