Finally it’s the summer and festival season is already under way! We’ve already seen a scorchingly sunny Glastonbury Festival a fun packed Bestival is coming in September. These are just some of the UK’s finest but what about festivals abroad?
Of course there’s the likes of Exit Festival in Serbia and Oktober Fest in Germany still to come but our favourite has got to be Rock en Seine in Paris, particularly as it’s so easy to get to using high speed rail.
Last year, 15% of Rock en Seine’s festivalgoers were from England and this year there’s going to be even more. Rock en Seine in Paris and Bestival in Isle of Wight have teamed up to provide an exclusive event by blending two bands with outlandish live rock energy; Où est le Swimming Pool & Naïve New Beaters.
To celebrate a summer of fun, friends and festivals, Eurostar are offering one of our lucky readers a chance to win a pair of 3 day passes to Rock en Seine Festival and be there to witness this amazing fusion of French and English music. The prize includes two 3 day passes to Rock en Seine, two camping tickets and high speed return train travel on Eurostar for you and your guest!
If you haven’t heard about Rock en Seine before, it’s a 3 day festival located just outside of Paris with an array of incredible acts. It all kicks off on 27th August 2010 and performers include Queens Of The Stone Age, Paolo Nutini, 2ManyDJs, Massive Attack, Arcade Fire and Blink 182 to name just a few!
If you’re still not convinced, see what the last winners thought when we brought them to Rock en Seine before on Eurostar.

I’d love to see Massive Attack just because it brings back so many memories of uni – sitting out in the summer totally carefree! Although I was going to say Paolo Nutini as I’m actually wearing some new shoes!!
I love, love, love Massive Attack!
I’d most like to see 2ManyDJs. One reason – they are AWESOME. No other justification required!
Grant my last request,
And just let me go toooo.
Don’t shrug your shoulders,
Lay down beside me (in my tent).
Sure I can accept that we’re going to Rock there,
But one last time let’s go there (via Eurostar),
Rock (en Seine) down beside me…..
The main reason I would really love to go to Rock en Seine is to see King of Conspiracy…or is it?
I would love to see Blink 182, against my better judgement…. Just to relive those awkward teenage years, skating, being a geek and a loser with the ladies…
Don’t leave me all alone
just drop me off at home
and I’ll be fine
Stereophonics. Fine. Welsh, Underrated.
It’s hard to decide for just one artist if the line up provides for such an eclectic mix – Deadmau5 and B.R.M.C. on Friday, Où est le Swimming Pool and Massive Attack on Saturday and everything on the big stage on Sunday!
The band I’d most like to see is Arcade Fire but as I’m pregnant with my first child this might be might last opportunity to see them play for the next few years. What better way to introduce the baby to many fabulous influences at the same time especially since next year I’ll have no chance (or money) to travel!
I’d love to see Massive Attack live, the soundtrack to many an evening where the music carries on until the sun rises in my 20′s and having never seen them live to see them in Paris would be perfect.
I have a cunning plan…..
Plan A – enter competition to win tickets to Rock en Seine then if I have a Massive Attack of good luck and win.. watch
Plan B while Chewing my Lips with excitement about watching Roxy Music who I adore. What a great line up over three days
Plan C – Get on th ebeautiful Eurostar and come back to London to recover!!!
I wish they could bring Jeff Buckley back from the dead for a great performance! This guy was a very talented musician, so sad he left us so soon
To see the ARCADE in FIRE
Through a NEON BIBLE
And THE REBELLION
Will be READY TO START
in an OCEAN OF NOISE
WAKE UP
Dear NEIGHBORHOOD
The SUBURBAN WAR
Will take us through UNE ANNEE SANS LUMIERE
Arcade fire……
I would love to see Queens of the Stone Age and Massive Attack. Fortunately, they perform on the same day! It’s been a long time since I’ve seen either one – seeing them perform in Paris would be well worth the wait.
It’s a tough choice as the lineup looks pretty good, but I would have to go for Arcade Fire. I’ve never seen them live and I hear their performances have so much energy. It would be a huge bonus to see them in Paris!
Massive Attack are amazing. I have seen them live many times and whenever I hear their tracks it takes me back to fabulous nights out with fabulous friends! I’d love to see them again to create some more memories! Les doigts ont passé !!
U2; the quintessentialinternational band that is loved the world over, not only for their music, but for their compassionate causes.
Let me spell this out for you Eurostar, you’re a star for running this competition. The ones I would not let slip away this year are eels:
E*asily the best act at Rock en Seine
E*vidently the best entry in this contest (!)
L*ost for words to describe my excitement
S*incerely I hope I win!
Paolo Nutini – those eyes, that voice, in the most beautiful city in the world – need I say more?!

2 Many DJs! They’re fantastic
I’d love to see Foals ( their new album is so rad and thay are such a great band live ) , on the same day, Minus the Bear, Band of Horses are sick too.
I want to see Blink 182 because its the band of my youth.
Rock en Seine is a greatfestival, great atmosphere, good bands, its the perfect way to close the summer before starting work and school again.
Offer it to me <3
Ladyhawke – ‘Paris is Burning’ i’m sure would go down a storm. But it would be amazing to see Edith Piaff live, in Paris, in the sun shine….. However, I think even Eurostar would struggle make this happen!
Good luck all!

With three days of amazing bands that span from my childhood to new loves, this cannot possibly be a better festival for me to lose my camping virginity. I would love to ‘Jump Around’ with Cyprus Hill, support my Camden boys Ou Est Le Swimming Pool (great guys who are going to make it big, I’m betting) and get a little ‘Novacaine for the Soul’ by Eels to end my weekend.
Overall, the TOP band I’d want to see? I flipped a coin (Beirut lost) and it landed on the crowd fave – Massive Attack. I blame ‘House’ for my new-found love of their music. I’d be curious to see if their music is as good live as it is recorded. Plus, being in the country where the language of love is the native tongue, and Massive Attack being quite the sexy soundtrack for some loving… it might be the perfect time to do a bit of **market research. Oui Oui oooo la la!
**This reference does not tie back in with losing my camping virginity. Well, not directly.
I’d love to win these tickets! I’ve never ever been to anything like this and would love to see Blink182!
Would love to see Blink 182 – I saw them about 10 years ago and was next to the person who got picked to go on stage! Second time lucky?? I’ve also never been to a European festival and am already suffering post-festival blues having been to Glastonbury- would be great to have another one to look forward to!
I’d love to go and pick up on any new, up and coming French electronica acts, French music culture has been having a resurgence in the last couple of years, Ou Est Le Swimming Pool for example! The like of Beirut, from the east coast of the US will go down fantastically with their brand of modern folk\ electro, their recent stuff has been great.

Massive Attack of course, they are amazing! Love them!
Arcade Fire, for sure
Who would I most like to see? It’s a challenge but the festival reads like my own personal musical history. From Skunk Anansie as a teen to travelling round Europe in 2005 with the Stereophonics as a soundtrack or going wild to LCD Soundsystem in my home town, London. Although my No.1 would have to be Underworld – truly, madly AWESOME.
But alas, I have never seen any of them live! Now I hope it’s time to be able to take myself and a special someone through my own musical history and gain a whole new string of experiences!
It’s too good to be true!
The artist who I am sure that most people would love to see is DAVID BOWIE. Go on ask him!!! – he loves the Seine, that’s where he proposed to Iman !
I’d like to see Blink 182. Even though I’m an old lady, I can still get my grove on. Rock me like a hurricane, yea!!!!
Arcade fire
I would love to see Blink 182! I have never seen them in concert and it would be totally awesome!!
Joe Bonamassa !!!!!!
Especially if with Black Country Communion
I would like to hear Massive Attack because I love them so much I named my first born child after them. If you choose me for the free ticket, I will name my second born after you.
I would love to see Massive Attack live- they bring an element of the ethereal !
A toss-up between heroes Roxy Music and Jónsi. Two of the most beautiful artists of the past few generations.
Beirut, because the singer is just a genius.
LCD Soundsystem, because it will be one of their last concerts!
It has got to be Beirut, one of my favourite artists I have yet to see.
No other band produces balkan folk mixed with pop music!
If I won this competition, I wouldn’t even care that I’m virually allergic to grass – hence, making camping verrryy uncomfortable – and it’s all for the love of music!
I would cut off my (very) long hair if it meant I could see Stereophonics, QOTSA AND Massive Attack on the same bill…one after the other!
Hopefully, I won’t need to cut off my hair – here’s hoping I win! *crosses, fingers, toes and eyes*
So many good acts, but would love to see Queen of the Stone Age, hopefully they will play Rated R album in full, a great album and you never know maybe a Dave Grohl cameo
The thought of seeing this band makes me want to have kittens! It would be absolutely incredible to see them live, something I’ve wanted to do for years. A certain member inspired me to take up playing that instrument so they have an incredible significance for me.
The name of the band is hidden below!

I’d die to see Arcade Fire and Beirut just because they’re so so excellent. And Foals again cos Yannis is awesome and what better way to experience the French open than in Paris?!
While there would be some great nostalgia in seeing 2manyDJs (10 years ago, Soulwax were the first ever band I saw live) it’s gotta be Arcade Fire. Their music is just incredible and perfect for rounding out a festival weekend.
It’s also cool they have francophone artists headlining, I fully expect le <> en français!
That’s le ‘stage patter’ en français – accidental html formatting for the lose.
ROKEN IS DODELIJK still available?
I wanna rock insane
see the arcade flame
hear them scream j’taime
come and lay my claim
to summer’s sweet pavlova
say goodbye to my mother
before the working week slows ya
the dog days are over
I minused my bear just now, but I still have to go with fat Freddy’s drop!
The Skunk Anansie’s gig makes me shiver.
When I get at the concert , I will lie down in the grass, turning into dynamic microphone and waiting for singer to sing straight into my ear her greatesst hit “Secretly”.
Since we need to choose only one band, watching the master mixers 2 Many DJ’s will include all the other great artists, it’s like wishing for more than 3 wishes from a magic genie
