Family fun at the Jardin d’Acclimatation in Paris

As the days get ever longer and the sun shines ever brighter in the sky, it would be a shame not to enjoy the outdoors.

Paris is a lovely city to walk around in, or even to sit at a pavement café enjoying a coffee or orange juice; but if you fancy a real walk which will entertain the whole family, there’s nowhere better than the Jardin d’Acclimatation, part of the Bois de Boulogne in Paris.

The park was created over 150 years ago by Napoleon III as a zoo, and although it has evolved, it has been entertaining children ever since.

There are still some animals in the park – there’s an aviary with lots of interesting birds – but there’s also archery, mini-golf, rides and a host of other fun things to do. Kids can even get their green fingers going by watering some of the plants, and if it’s a warm day, there’s more water-based fun to be had in the shape of a mini water park.

Best of all, with the Bois de Boulogne literally next door – there’s a whole day of fun to be had, with the larger park perfect for a long walk, picnics with lovely fresh French produce, and impromptu football games.

The Jardin d’Acclimatation may not be in the centre of Paris; but it should be in the centre of any of your plans for a trip to Paris this summer, with much family fun to be had!
