Winter is a great time to visit the beautiful city of Geneva. Whether you like wrapping up warm and strolling around the stunning mirror-like Lake Geneva, or playing a game of life sized chess in Parc des Bastions before enjoying a glass of vin chaud, there is something for you.
Of course, no visit to Geneva would be right without a trip to the old town. The maze of cobblestone streets hide many of Geneva’s best secrets; along with the fantastic Cathedrale St-Pierre and the Maison Tavel – Geneva’s oldest house dating back to the 12th century.
After a day building up an appetite exploring the magnificent streets, finding a terrific restaurants for a sit down will be in order. One of our favourites, La Demi-Lune, located just off the Place de Bourg-de-Four in the Old Town, is a popular spot for locals and ex-pats alike.
Servicing a range of tapas, homemade hamburgers and sandwiches, it’s a great place for a snack or a full meal. If you’re not feeling hungry, we’d suggest sampling one (or more) of the fabulous cocktails they have on offer – such as their zesty homemade Mojito or their house special, the Demi Lune.
Everything on the menu is extraordinary, but we can strongly recommend trying the Pheasant fillet filled with foie gras and mushrooms for an incredible winter treat.
