Music lover, record collector, DJ, broadcaster… Perhaps most famous for his much loved genre-exploding radio shows on BBC Radio 1 (and 17 other stations around the world including Japan’s leading commercial station J-Wave), Gilles’ insatiable appetite for new music undoubtedly lies at the heart of his success.
Gilles continues to ply his worldwide trade often jetting over to Japan and Cuba at the weekend but still finds time for a regular Saturday afternoon slot on BBC Radio 6 Music.
Gilles Peterson has been tasked with bringing together and showcasing talent from his 30 years within the arts – mixing the experienced, whom were pioneers in their time, with upcoming artists whom are currently breaking ground in their respective fields. Collaborations are key and not just musical but fusing the arts.
Gilles himself is also an innovator, long known for challenging the boundaries of music–breeding a new form of Acid Jazz, fusing unexpected genres, discovering and launching and, indeed re-launching, many big name artists.
